Rose day 2023

The Social and Dramatic Union is the premier cultural committee at Jai Hind College tasked with organizing various cultural events including SHOUTT, the inter- collegiate festival of Jai Hind College. It is responsible for providing the students with a platform to showcase their talents and enrich cultural value.

Rose Day, held on the seventh of October, was a pre-event for the Social and Dramatic Union’s fest, SHOUTT. Students were encouraged to don traditional attire while attending college. Some days before the event, students submitted ‘Rose Cards’ to the SDU with messages for their loved ones filled in. The hashtag “#harrosekikahani” was not only used to generate social media presence, but was also present on the signature rose cards, unique to rose day.

On the day of the event, the committee members distributed these cards to the recipients with small bouquets of flowers. As an entertaining way to bring people together, musical performances along with a short fashion show to showcase everyone’s outfits were scheduled in the foyer. Towards the end, the best dressed were facilitated by the faculty members.

The objectives as followed by the Social and Dramatic Union was to organise an event that would bring the students closer to Indian culture through traditional dressing and to provide a platform for them to express their gratitude towards their friends.

The event succeeded in gaining positive response as a precursor for SHOUTT as well as creating a long-lasting memory for each of the students. The Social and Dramatic Union wishes to celebrate this particular legacy for the upcoming years too.
