Three years of online learning really takes a toll on you. Everything is dull and dreary, you’re stuck in your all too familiar room, and you just want to return to the time where you hung out with friends and were surrounded by classmates. 2022 was different from every other year, as it marked the end of boring online life, and the students were all bursting with ferocity at the prospect of returning to the sunny outdoors.
This was a prime opportunity for hosting an event that could channel everyone’s inner passions into a day of excitement and fun, all the while encompassing everything that online life had taken away from us. And so, the city of Mumbai glowed an enchanting magenta, as the Social and Dramatic Union, the premier cultural committee of Jai Hind College, celebrated the much awaited ‘Rose Day 2022’ on the 19th of November.
It was planned to be a day dedicated to the romantic, fantastical, and enriching aspects of life, and everyone absolutely looked the part, as Rose Day 2022 was accompanied this year with the beloved Traditional Day. The College campus was a mesmerising blend of vibrant shades, as the students all assembled with their freshest desi Indian fits. The campus was also fitted with many photo booths designed by none other than the Creatives Department of the SDU, and was filled to the brim by excited students and members of the IPR Department who were going around distributing rose cards, the initiator of budding relationships and a signature of Rose Day. The event truly breathed life back into the students, as the hustle and bustle of the event was something we had all missed a lot.
However, the best was yet to come, as shade from the afternoon sun hosted the brightest collection of beautifully dressed students all vying for the priceless title of Rose King and Rose Queen 2022. The Foyer now seated a roaring crowd, as flair, glamour, and a delicate hint of sass dominated the ramp walk. The College glowed with an energy it hadn’t witnessed for three years, and this enthusiasm was a gentle spark which was to fuel the flame of the greater, much more magnificent party set for the near future.
Rose Day 2022 entered our calendars as an incredibly successful event, and set up even higher expectations for the larger than ever SHOUTT 2022, the night of the Masquerade.
